Sachin a quick learner: Gavaskar

Sachin a quick learner: Gavaskar

Sure, batting great Sachin Tendulkars mode of dismissals have been the talking point in recent months. But Tendulkar need not worry about the wagging tongues that have been working overtime, dissecting his batting abilities. For,he has found support in the legendary former India opener and skipper Sunil Gavaskar.

According to Gavaskar,Tendulkar is too good a batsman to not overcome any shortcomings he is facing regarding his dismissals off late.I think he has worked on it.He is one of the most hardworking and studious guys you can come across.

I think Sachin (Tendulkar) would have had enough time to think about how he got out.If he has got the runs now he must have worked on it and the evidence will be there in the Test matches. But the very fact that he has got runs now is a very good sign, Gavaskar said, referring to Tendulkars century on Day One of Mumbais Ranji Trophy match against Railways.

Tendulkar,in recent months, has been cleaned up by fast bowlers on quite a few occasions, but defending the mode of his dismissals,Gavaskar reasoned: That was the early part of the Indian season.Generally the season starts at this time in October and in the early part of the season some people tend to get a bit rusty.India had not played international cricket for some months. It was one of those rare two months off from international cricket so maybe it could well have been a case of rustiness.

But as I said,Sachin (Tendulkar ) is a quick learner,he is somebody who may have noticed the chink himself,he would haveprobably studied the videos a couple of 1000 times if not more and would have worked on it.I dont really see too much of an issue,in that sense really.

Gavaskar also stressed upon the fact that getting runs in any competition does wonders to a batsmans confidence. No matter how much you bat in the nets, batting in a match-scenario is completely different. In that regard the century against Railways, would mean a lot for Sachin (Tendulkar).Being out in the middle and feeling the ball hit the middle of the bat and running between the wickets tests your lung capacity and that is an important aspect.
